Beavers

Introduction to Beavers.
Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of our Scout Group and range in age from 6 to 8. We have a maximum of 18 members and at the present time (February 2018) we have 7 girls and 11 boys. The cost per school term is £45 payable at the start of each term (January, Easter and September). We meet Thursday evenings during school term time from 6 to 7 p.m.

Structure
The Beavers are divided into 4 lodges, blue, green, red and silver and each child wears the appropriate coloured woggle to denote their lodge. Hoodies are also worn if desired by all our Scout Group and are purchased through the leaders.

Activities
We have a lot of different fun activities. In the light nights we spend lots of time outdoors- following trails, studying nature & the surrounding area, building dens, as well as playing games. At other times we work towards achieving badges which involves many different types of activity. Towards the summer we hold a ‘sleepover’ which is the first step towards camping, which is done once the Beaver becomes a Cub and onwards into Scouts. Our group is part of the Dronfield District whose H.Q. is on Wreakes Lane. We join in District activities – fun days, sports days and parties.

The Beaver Scout Promise
There are a number of variations of the Beaver Scout Promise to reflect the range of faiths, beliefs attitudes, and nationalities, in the UK within Scouting.

I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love God.

The Beaver Scout Law
There is no formal Beaver Scout Law. The concepts expressed in the Scout Law are to be presented to Beaver Scouts through games, storytelling and other informal activities.

The Beavers are led by a Beaver Leader known as Rainbow Beaver (Stella Richardson) and other adult and young leaders.
